Intensive Care Unit

The six-bed Intensive Care Unit at Dodge County Hospital provides the highest level of care for patients with serious illness or injury that requires close monitoring and specialized equipment.  24-hour monitoring is just one aspect of the intense medical assistance patients receive from our specialty certified staff.  Because of the seriousness of the patients’ conditions and the care they must receive, we ask that you follow Dodge County Hospital’s policies for their well-being. For health reasons no live plants or flowers are permitted.  Please wash your hands before and after touching patients to help us prevent the spread of diseases.

For your convenience, a special waiting area is available exclusively for families of ICU patients.  Please use this area rather than waiting in the halls, which must be kept clear to enable quick mobility. Children under the age of 12 or anyone that has a known or suspected infection are not allowed to visit.

How You Can Help
Please call friends and relatives and give them information regarding your family member’s condition.  Advise them of visiting hours and who may visit.  Tell them to contact you at home or to call the ICU waiting room at 478-448-4089 instead of the hospital, since HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) laws prohibit the hospital from providing patient information over the telephone.

How We Can Help You
Our staff will be happy to answer your questions and discuss your concerns.  If, at any time, you feel it necessary to speak with the ICU Director, that can also be arranged.
We will work with you to make this difficult time as easy as possible.

Visitation
ICU has an open visitation policy but will be closed each day, 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  Visitors may be limited to immediate family only.  Daytime and nighttime visits should be limited to 15 minutes and only two visitors in the room at a time.   This allows patients adequate time to rest and heal.
