Pharmacy The Dodge County Hospital pharmacy department is staffed with two full-time pharmacists and two full-time pharmacy technicians. The pharmacy is part of the healthcare team. The main role of the pharmacy is to provide each patient with the medications that are ordered for his/her recovery while staying at our facility. Not only do we provide the medications for the patients, we also work closely with the nurses and physicians to monitor the medications for correct dosage, possibly allergies, and any incompatibilities. Some of our other responsibilities included checking and entering medication orders into the computer, keeping all the hospital stations stocked with medications, checking and pulling outdated medications, and communicating with the physicians, nurses, and patients. The pharmacy is responsible for ordering, checking prices, and negotiating contracts so that the hospital is supplied with the best quality of drugs at the best possible cost to the patient. Our primary role as part of the healthcare team is to make certain that each patient is provided with the highest quality of care at the most reasonable cost.
