RN Circulator - Surgery
HOURS: 7am-3pm plus call
DAYS: Monday-Friday plus call

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs technical aspects of patient according to established policies and procedures; adapts techniques to growth and development stage of patient and unique patient needs.
• Demonstrates the ability to initiate, and direct life support measures and perform effectively in Code Pink procedures.
• Demonstrates accountability for administration, observation, documentation, and reporting effects of drugs, intravenous procedures, other diagnostic and therapeutic measures in an accurate and safe manner.
• Demonstrates responsibility for proper use and safe keeping of all controlled medications kept in the OR and monitors the administration and documentation of use.
• Transcribes and/or counter signs physician orders; receives physician orders for assigned patients.
• Maintains the dignity, rights, and confidentiality of the patient, serves as a patient advocate, at all times.
• Participates in the evaluation of the quality of patient care and continuous quality improvement activities.
• Participates in hospital emergency, fire, and disaster drills; knows personal role in the case of a fire and demonstrates the ability to direct the activities of the nursing unit in the event of an emergency situation or patient evacuation.
• Follows hospital and departmental policies and procedures including but not limited to safety and infection control.
• Acts as a preceptor for a new employee as assigned.
• Assumes the responsibilities of the charge nurse/team leader as designated.
• Adheres to dress code. Wears identification while on duty.
• Attends committee meetings as appropriate.
• Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
• Independently establishes work plan and priorities for assigned patient load to assure completion of assigned work within established time frames and conformance with departmental policies and procedures. Refers specific problems to supervisor only where clarification of departmental policies and procedures may be required.
• This position represents a key contact with patients, visitors, and physicians affecting their impression of the hospital. Must communicate/or discuss semi complex and involved information with patients, physicians, staff, and general public under conditions where basic understanding, sympathy, or sensitivity may be required to effectively promote and maintain congeniality of relationships. Display a positive and professional attitude at all times.
• Remains flexible in staffing patterns and resolution of staffing conflicts; participates in temporary assignment measures of the department of nursing.
• Participates in continuing education programs as required.

EDUCATION:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a current Georgia Nursing License.
• Successful completion of Dodge County Hospital’s medication administration evaluation.
• Ability to proficiently perform all essential job responsibilities after three-month orientation period.
• Minimal continuing education requirements as defined by the Department of Nursing.
• Requires DCH mandatory annual training.

EXPERIENCE:

• One-year Medical Surgical Unit experience. Operating Room scrub experience desired.
